One of the most common period questions is, “Do I have heavy periods?” If this is something you are wondering there are a few things to look out for. To know if you have heavy period bleeding, answer these questions - is your period:
- Longer than 7 days?
- So heavy it requires you to change your pad/tampon every two hours or less?
- Accompanied by gushing or clots?
If you’re experiencing some or all of these, you may have heavy periods and you'll be wondering what to do about heavy periods. As always, contact your doctor for help, especially if you’re bleeding through tampons like TAMPAX Pearl Super Plus within 1-2 hours!
Heavy period bleeding may cause you to lose iron and make you anaemic (weak and tired). If you’re concerned about your heavy period, keep a diary of your periods and flow, including the number of pad/tampon changes and occurrences of gushes. This will help your doctor determine what to do about heavy periods.
